National Museum of Moldovan History

The National Museum of Moldovan History is located in the heart of the capital along Strada 31 August 1989.

It has a collection of 250,000 pieces, divided into five sections: the archaeological, art, history and commemorative events sections. The core of the museum consists of the archaeological and ancient history, medieval history, Bessarabian history, contemporary history and national treasures sections. The exhibition of ancient and medieval remains discovered in the archaeological sites of Orheiul Vechi has exceptional historical and cultural value.

On the access staircase to the Museum there is the Monument to the Capitoline She-Wolf, donated to Chisinau by the municipality of Rome in the 1920s, i.e. during the period of twenty years of Italian fascism, when the current Republic of Moldova was an integral part of the state of Romania.

Monument to military glory

Built in 1975 in the area of the military cemetery to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the victory over Nazi-fascism, the monument is dedicated to those fallen in the fight for freedom of Moldova and the capital. In the center of this enormous area, the Pyramid of the Five Weapons rises 25 meters high and houses the eternal flame protected by the military guard. In 1992, a further monumental body dedicated to the fallen in the Transnistrian war was added. The monumental complex which was totally restored and surrounded by a style gate in 2006 is located on Strada P. Halippa at the southern limit of the city center.

National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History

Very interesting museum, ideal to visit for all those who want to get to know the Republic of Moldova in all its nuances and diversity without moving from one location to another.
The museum building, very aesthetically beautiful, is open from 10am to 5pm from Tuesday to Sunday.

Orthodox Basilica of Saint Theodora

This basilica designed and built entirely in neo-Byzantine style by the Italian architect Alessandro Bernardazzi in the year 1895 was originally the cathedral of the girls' gymnasium of Chisinau.
The basilica is located along Pushkin Street at the intersection with 31 August 1989 Street.

Orthodox Basilica of St. Nicholas

The basilica, the work of the Russian architect V. Taganko, was built in the year 1901 with clear imprints in the pseudo-Russian style.
Of notable impression for the sumptuousness of its interiors.
It is located along Bulevard Stefan cel Mare near the Russian Embassy.

Cathedral of the Great Holy Martyr Theodor Tiron

Cathedral dating back to the year 1858 built by the brothers Anastasie and Teodor Ciuflea. It preserves within it magnificent ancient icons of rare value.
The cathedral is located on Strada Ciufli, not far from the Hotel National.
